Description: After for a long time only having the old Caprice set of Stenhammar quartets, we're suddenly spoiled for choice what with cpo's set of Nos. 3-6 which we offered in Nov. 2011 (11N054) and now this new series-beginner which adds to the Third's dialogue with late Beethoven and the Fourth's remarkable motivic density the two movements of incidental music for a play by Hjalmar Bergman in 1919 about an aging opera singer's return to the stage.  Its two movements last just over seven minutes and the second is a wonderful compact reference to operatic styles of the late Romanic period. Stenhammar Quartet.
