LUIGI GIANELLA (1770-c.1817): 3 Duos Concertants for Flute and Harp, Op. 2.
Catalogue Number: 08Q035
Reference: TC 770702
Description: A composer about whom little is known except for his work and and compositions for such sacred venues as La Fenice, La Scala and the Paris Opéra, Gianella may turn out to be near the beginning of the French flute-and-harp genre: these c.1790 pieces (of sonata size - the three three-movement works take up over 65 minutes and may not have been called "sonatas" due to their not using classical sonata-form) may be the first for these two instruments since Mozart's concerto and works by Krumpholz. Gianella's are also written for one of the same dedicatees as Krumpholz's. Claudio Ortensi (flute), Anna Pasetti (harp).
