Description: In his balance, sense of harmonic proportions and motivic economy, Mozart is clearly Wilms' model even as he fills a gap in the history of reception between that composer and Mendelssohn. These sonatas from around 1809 also meet the demands of the salons by supplying works such as the attractive polonaise at the end of the Second or the lengthy, richly imaginative set of variation in the Third sonata.
