Description: Written in 1941 (when Martinu was cooling his hoofies in Jamaica and writing his cello sonata recorded here), Kabelác's four-movement sonata (giving the impression in its Passacaglia-Fantasia-Scherzo-Allegro energico movement sequence of suite-form) has the nervous intensity and darkness which one can only get by being fired by the Nazis from your post and forbidden to do anything publicly. A significant 20th century Czech work in the genre (once available in 1990 on a hard-to-find, now out-of-print Panton CD). Tomás Jamník (cello), Ivo Kahánek (piano). Tomás Jamník (cello), Ivo Kahánek (piano).
