Description: Published in Riga in 1771, these are the only two extant concertos by Palschau, a child prodigy at the keyboard who spent the last almost 40 years of his career in St. Petersburg. They are in the empfindsamkeit style of mid-century C.P.E. Bach - a little conservative for their time but Palschau was geographically on the outer edges of European musical happenings too. Schulz' set of pieces were published in 1778 and would seem to require both harpsichord and piano rather than a choice of either: the first is quite Bachian and ideally suited to the harpsichord while the fourth, with a Mozartian cantabile upper part, has crescendo markings which are impossible on that instrument. Concerto Copenhagen; Lars Ulrik Mortensen (harpsichord).
