Format: CD

Description: Savall took several excerpts from the version by the French composer Courcelle which had its debut in 1739 in Madrid and wove them into Vivaldi's opera which originated in 1727. This mixture of composers was, along with insertion of "spurious" arias, a commonplace of the period. Offered now at mid-price, presumably because at the time it was made, it was made by Astrée but went with Savall to his new label Alia Vox and has now reverted to Astrée's new parent company Naïve. 3 CDs. Italian-English libretto. Furio Zanasi (baritone), Sara Mingardo, Gloria Banditelli (contraltos), Adriana Fernández (soprano), Chorus of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, Le Concert de Nations; Jordi Savall. Original 2002 Alia Vox release.
