Description: After two CDs with Tertis arrangments, we now have "The Tertis Tradition", a title which speaks for itself. All of these pieces except the Rubbra were composed for the great violist and Chase plays them on Tertis' Montagnana viola. Only the Bliss and Vaughan Williams are well-known and the Bax (from 1904 - a wild and passionate Celtic period work) and Rubbra (from 1962, a quiet and spellbinding piece using a thousand-year-old plainchant) only have one other recording. Roger Chase (viola), Michiko Otaki (piano).
