Description: In Genzmer's large compositional œuvre, the organ is present in some 50 pieces, from concertos with orchestra to solo pieces as here. While the Konzert (1996-97) updates the French solo organ symphony tradition of Widor and Vierne, the remaining pieces generally make use of chorale melodies from throughout the German liturgical tradition as the basis of their individual movements, often to highly dramatic effect as in the 1980 Easter Concerto.
