Description: This release completes the Naxos Field piano concerto series the first three discs of which came out between 1998 and 2002. The Seventh here was recorded in 1996 but had to wait 20 years for release?! The Priegnitz is a version of the first movement of Field’s Second Concerto with a Nocturne plopped into the middle; a Field Nocturne? And why? Don’t ask because the notes won’t tell you. The sonata was recorded in 2013 but it joins Frith’s other three Field sonatas released in 1999 and 2000. Odd. Benjamin Frith (piano).
