Description: More discographic evidence for Blumenfeld’s place in the tradition of great Russian piano virtuoso/composers including his great model Anton Rubinstein and his own pupil Vladimir Horowitz. Chopin is often at the root of Blumenfeld’s piano music in his melding of that composer’s worldly elegance with the newer chromaticism of Wagner. As far as I can tell nothing here is available on the very few previous Blumenfeld recordings. Karl-Andreas Kolly (piano).
