Description: Born in Youngstown OH and longtime professor at Northwestern University, Oldberg studied the piano with Leschetizky and composition with Rheinberger and had his earlier works published by Arthur Farwell (including what the notes describe as a “massive” Piano Concerto No. 1 - hey Hyperion!  Look!). We, however, must be satisfied with this 49-minute recital of piano pieces, all but one of which date from 1907-1915 and which evince a Brahmsian Romanticism although the Canzonetta admits Debussian influence as well. Jennifer Muñiz (piano).
