Description: The sextet is from 1889, in the composer's early style which was still based on Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Schumann while the quintet, a mature work from 1897-1901 is a bit edgy and dark, the outer fast movements more broad and flowing than the youthful work and with a 16-minute slow movement with postitively Brucknerian gravity with a turbulent central section Gianluca Luisi (piano).
