ARMANDO JOSÉ FERNANDES (1906-1983): Sonata a tre for Piano Trio, Piano Quartet.

Description: First released on LP in 1983, then on CD by Strauss in 1995, this recording has not been offered by us since we took over RI in 1997. Fernandes didn't begin to study music until he was 38 and only began his career as teacher and composer in 1940. The two works here are from 1956 (the suave, elegant and attractive quartet which partakes of both late romanticism and French Impressionism, distilled by Fernandes into an original potion of his own) and 1980 (the 74-year-old producing a very light, transparent and neo-classical work which breathes youthful exuberance).
