Description: During his "symphonic year" of 1841, Schumann made several attempts at a classically-sized symphony in C Minor, the fragments of which he later recycled in works in other genres. Two of them ended up in the Bunte Blätter piano cycle of Op. 99 (nos. 12 & 13) and Draheim, whose new edition of the the four symphonies was recorded by cpo and released last month (no, we didn't offer it), was commissioned by the Staatskapelle Dresden to reconstruct them for this 2010 performance in the Frauenkirche. Markus Butter (baritone), MDR Radio Choir Leipzig, Solosts of Dresden Kreuzchor, Staatskapelle Dresden; Daniel Harding. 16:9 widescreen. NTSC region 0. PCM Stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 surround. 77 min.
