ERNEST BLOCH (1880-1959): Symphony in C Sharp Minor, Poems of the Sea.

Description: Bloch's sprawling, youthful symphony, written between 1901-03, was last recorded by BIS in 1992 while Marco Polo provided the first digital recording a bit earlier. This brand-new recording of the volatile, echt-Romantic symphony (almost 55 minutes in this performance), firmly in the tradition of Richard Strauss, Mahler and Bruckner, adds the 1922 Poems, three short pieces lasting a total of 13-and-a-half minutes which seem to oscillate between French Impressionism and English sea-shanty tunes à la Grainger.
