Description: This is only the second recording available of the 11-minute ballet score Der Wind, written, like four others (the most well-known of which is Der Geburtstag der Infantin) for the Wiesenthal sisters. A vaguely impressionistic atmosphere intrudes at times upon Schreker's late Romanticism in this attractive piece from 1908. The depressive 40-minute song cycle, one of Schoeck's best-known works, dates from 1931-33, its tense and deeply gloomy atmosphere testament to his father's recent death and his wife's intention to leave him. German texts. Stephan Genz (baritone), Marco Thomas (clarinet), Clemens Röger (horn), Olga Gollej (piano), Leipzig String Quartet.
