Description: No notes, no dates of composition, just a 1927 article from an English journal by the composer himself denying that his music has any connection with Scriabin’s. Which is plainly not true, as listening to just a random selection of these short pieces will reveal. What they don’t have is the ethereal, diaphanous quality of many of Scriabin’s pieces. They are darker, more depressive, one might say a heavy dose of the lugubrious Rachmaninov but that is present in Scriabin also. So let’s not take Sabaneyev’s words at face value. 2 CDs. Michael Schäfer (piano).
