Description: For collectors of this composer’s piano music we have 23 minutes of first recordings, a six-minute “Hollywood Nocturne” from 1941 and 1960 Sonatina which delightfully depicts the doings of dragonflies, snails (the slooooow movement), a lizard (the darting scherzo) and ants. Just as enjoyable are the rarely recorded and equally representational “September Sky” of 1910 - C-T’s first acknowledged work - and the portraits of Charlie Chaplin and Mickey Mouse that make up the Film Etudes, not to mention the shimmering Impressionism of 1920’s Cantico. Alfonso Soldano (piano).
