Description: As promised last month in the blurb for the "Webern students" release, here is the Schoenberg equivalent. As with the Webern disc, the stylistic variance of these composers from Schoenberg is often rather great and, in the case of Koffler (see page 12 for two Acte Préalable discs devoted entirely to him), it's uncertain whether he actually met Schoenberg, much less studied with him (but he must have written one of the first-ever twelve-tone tangos!). The composers are also better-known than those on the Webern disc, which, however, does not make this release any less attractive to 20th century music collectors. Steffen Schleiermacher (piano).
