Description: A new recording of Leschetizky's early piano concerto to replace the out-of-print old Marco Polo version done with a Chinese orchestra way back when. Not only is it interesting that the work's first performance was in 1977 (in Richmond, VA!) but also that this live recording was its Polish debut. A one-movement piece of around 20 minutes, its influences are Liszt, Mendelssohn and Chopin and, in the solo works which make up the other 45 minutes of this disc, Chopin and Brahms are the main echoes heard (outside, of course, of the pointed hommages). Hubert Rutkowski, Rzeszów Philharmonic Orchestra; Tomasz Chmiel.
