Description: The title of this disc is "Mozart in Italy" and the composers you see here were all met by Mozart father and son during their two year stay in Italy. Hasse's overture is as youthful-sounding, bright-spirited and Classical as Mozart's and Rauzzini's (the latter was the castrato for whom Mozart wrote his Exsultate Jubilate who spent the second half of his career in England as a composer); Linley's remarkable concerto has had one other recording but the young Lamotte (from the Low Countries) has an equally attractive concerto which like much else here, dates from the mid 1770s. Mirijam Contzen (violin), Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic; Reinhard Goebel.
