Description: The blend of Armenian, Scandinavian and modern American music is very appealing, especially the biggest work here, the 2004 sonata by Healey (a student of both Herbert Howells and Petrassi!), a 21-minute work which is suggested by the early colonization of Virginia which combines references to late Renaissance English music with a present-day language. Robert Murray (violin), Ardyth Lohuis (Aeolian Skinner organ of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and Austin organ of Reveille United Methodist Church, Richmond, VA).
