Description: Here is another of the many Jewish composers and conductors who flourished in Germany in the teens and 20s and were uprooted by the Nazis only to be rendered obsolete and forgotten by the post-war avant-garde. Waghalter belongs to the circle of composers such as Gernsheim, Joachim and Goldmark who were devotees of Brahms' style but his works here also have a free rhapsodic quality which, with a certain structural fluidity, joins them also with the New German school of Wagner and Liszt.
