GIOVANNI BATTISTA VIOTTI (1755-1824): Flute (Violin) Concertos No. 16 in E Minor (arr. Kaspar Fürstenau [1772-1819]) and No. 23 in G (arr. François Devienne [1759-1803]).

Description: It's not unusual for flutists to want to play violin concertos and, here, two of the era's prominent flute soloists did just that in transcribing two of Viotti's most popular violin concertos, exalting above all the lyricism of the soloist's part in their arranging. And, obviously, given Fürstenau and Devienne's dates, both were done in Viotti's lifetime, the publication dates being 1802 and 1804.
