Description: These are not youthful trifles as some date from as late as 1931-36. Five are world premiere recordings: the 11-minute Fantaisie concertante, which Lupu put together from various fragments of what Enescu clearly intended to be a large-scale work for violin and orchestra but which could in no way be orchestrated now; the Airs of 1926, possibly a study for the Violin Sonata No. 3; the Nocturne (1931-36), either written for or as a memoir of playing with the members of the Menuhin family in Paris and the shorter and earlier Prelude and Gavotte (1898) and Sarabande (c.1915-1920). Sherban Lupu (violin), Ian Hobson, Ilinca Dumitrescu, Samir Golescu (piano), Masumi Per Rostad (viola), Marin Cazacu, Dmitry Kouzov (cello), Enescu Ensemble of the Univeristy of Illinois.
