Description: The final volume in this series contains quartets from late 1937 and early 1938 which contain elements of all of Hill’s stylistic periods with the final movement of No. 17 fittingly looking back to the earliest Dvorákian group of quartets. You can’t quite put your finger on what Alfred Hill “sounds like” but it’s all conservative and melodic, never straying beyond touches of Impressionism. Dominion String Quartet.
