Description: The 1911-16 sonata is the most perfectly evoked series of pastoral scenes (in the Theocritean sense) and is perfect music to listen to when you’re at home under your tree, flocks happily grazing, while you wait for your loving shepherdess. The 1945 Reed Trio may make you think of Françaix while the gentle melancholy, alternating with youthful wit, of the very late Sonate is just another example of what makes Koechlin hard to describe but easy to love. Stefan Schilli (oboe, cor anglais, oboe d’amore), Henrik Wiese (flute), Christopher Corbett (clarinet), Marco Postinghel (bassoon), Cristina Bianchi (harp), Daniel Giglberger, Heather Cottrell (violins), Anja Kreynacke (viola), Kristin von der Goltz (cello), Oliver Triendl (piano).
