Description: Schmitt orchestrated the first segment of his piano work Ombres (1917) in 1929, clothing its gloomy music in a garment of rich sensuality, voluptuous harmonies and tormented expression. Yes, it’s only 12 minutes long and the rest of the disc is Ravel but we had to offer it not only for its rarity but for its sheer beauty.
