Description: After four volumes of British repertoire, this duo now provide a strikingly varied collection of American pieces: Barber’s old-world Romanticism, Carter’s 1948 sonata which was perhaps his first step on the road to his reputation for fearsome complexity (still quite approachable though), Crumb’s idiosyncratic solo sonata from 1955 (not anywhere as weird as he could get later) and Bernstein and Copland’s complementary versions of Americana.
