Description: Le Flem belonged to the Parisian circle of Martinu, Tcherepnin and Tansman, summing up his own music as a fusion of three influences: his native Brittany, Debussy and D'Indy and the intense poetry of his earlier works reflects the ever-changing land and seascapes of Brittany, and the variety of its mysteries and legends from the lighthearted to the disquieting. The first four titles in the list above, two from 1907 and two from 1910, are miniature tone-pictures of five to nine minutes but even the two suites and individual shorter pieces have plenty to captivate the listener. Giorgio Koukl (piano).
