Description: Fifteen years after its first CD dedicated to Veracini, L’Arte dell’Arco once again has recorded instrumental music by him for cpo. The objective has been to carry through to completion an edition of his overtures and violin concertos in their entirety, along with a selection of the most interesting sonatas from the collection without opus number from 1716 and from his Opera Prima (1721). The dignified and stately style of the overtures, combined with their frequent shifts of register to more exuberant and popular modes, gives way in the two sonatas to a chamber articulation in which refinement and contrapuntal erudition more clearly come into view.
