Description: Yet another of the seemingly endless list of Basque national composers who were primarily priests. This one spent time in Albany and ran into one of the Romero clan while buying music paper in New York, leading to many guitar compositions for the family, not least the one from 1969 recorded here. Far more than even some of the other composers in this series, Madina (known as "Aita Madina") uses Basque folksongs almost everywhere in his compositions and, when he isn't using actual folksongs, he uses folk rhythms and compositional techniques. Top to bottom, one of the most attractive of this Claves series so far. 2 CDs. No texts. Basque National Orchestra; Cristian Mandeal
