Description: A student of Franck, this Austro-Italian composer was once represented by a Marco Polo recording of his big symphony and a large-scale symphonic suite, both in the cyclic style of his main teacher. That's also exactly what you get here in the 1887 trio and 1893 sonata (written for Ysaÿe who kept it in his repertoire for 30 years), both of which also begin with extended, typically Franckian slow introductions although the textures of the sonata are airier and its mood more extrovert.
