Description: Collectors will remember an Orfeo recording which we offered in 2004 by the same conductor (different orchestra) which contained the other two symphonies of this group of three which were written around 1780 but not published until 1795. Like these other two, this is very much in the Haydn and Mozart school via the Mannheim style (where Winter began his career as a violinist); ditto for the shorter, two-movement Schweriner. It is not made clear whether the Entr'Actes are from stage music or if, like the seven-minute overture, they are concert works but they are pleasingly dance-oriented with prominent parts for flute, oboe and bassoon. Munich Radio Orchestra; Johannes Moesus.
