Description: The 1933 Fourth, a requiem for the composer's daughter who died in childbirth the previous year is probably the most recorded of his symphonies and stands alongside Suk's Asrael and Foerster's First, Second and Fifth as symphonic requiems. The Hussar Variations come from 1930 and are Schmidt's entry into the genre made particularly famous by Brahms and Reger. Malmö Symphony Orchestra; Vassily Sinaisky.
