Description: At only 40 minutes, Actéon (1684) is a perfect miniaturization of the Lullian tragédie en musique and 28-year-old Harmonia Mundi recording, reissued twice already, is the only other version in the catalogue (without libretto). Orphée, from the same year, is a mini-cantata with a prelude, two airs, two duos and a trio packed into less than 18 minutes; La pierre (1681) was a divertissement - the only music in a stage play whose seven minutes include two choruses, a duo and a chanson. French-English libretto. Aaron Sheehan, Jason McStoots, Zachary Wilder (tenors), Teresa Wakim, Lydia Brotherton (sopranos), Mireille Lebel (mezzo), Douglas Williams (bass-baritone), Boston Early Music Festival; Paul O'Dette & Stephen Stubbs.
