Description: These choral works are for children's choir, the two longest being 1973's Mass which makes unchildlike demands including glissando fields and extremely high notes, and the 1977 "mystery play" Marjatta, a 25-minute tale from the Kalevala, this time a Finnish folk version of the Christmas story. The flute part is very difficult and who can resist the anvil as a percussion instrument? Glissandi or not, these are attractive, entertaining works which should please Rautavaara completists. Finnish, German, Spanish-English texts. Tapiola Choir; Pasi Hyökki.
