Description: Exacting technical demands are married to an exquisite expressive sense in these pieces by the famous pianist (and operatic soprano). What's remarkable is the depth of depressive feeling evident in so many of them; death, loss and mourning seem to have been second nature to Carreño. Even more remarkable is that several of these were written by a 9- to 12-year old girl! All but the Elégie are World Premiere Recordings. Alexandra Oehler (piano).
