Description: These recordings, made in a studio in late 1991 and January of 1992, recall a famous recital of May 19, 1984 in Symphony Space, New York, in which Mikhashoff played 70 works in seven hours. As a glance at the monster-sized list above will easily tell you, this is a pretty wide-ranging survey of cutting-edge American piano music form 1911 to 1991. Several works are listed as First Recordings * in the booklet but it's unclear whether that means at the time they were recorded or as of now. Nine pages of notes with nine photos of the pianist with some of the composers and three pages of notes by Mikhashoff for a single CD release of part of this repertoire. 4 CDs. Ivar Mikhashoff (piano).
