Description: This Serbian composer began with Neo-Romanticism after the Second World War, his 1947 Sonata Romantica (at 22 minutes the biggest single work he wrote for piano) is inspired by Nordic, or more precisely, Grieg’s lyricism. The set of Études (1951–52) represents the peak of his compositions for the piano. They are technically complex and demanding, rich in polyphony, as well as sharp and precise in character. During his late period, after 1973, conceived the content of his work based on his personal spiritual and philosophical views (like any good Slavic artist!) and by constantly modernized his expressive means, preserving unity of form but also letting expressionist tension radicalize his sound world. 2 CDs. Ratimir Martinovič (piano).
