Description: Vogel hit Paris about the time Mozart was leaving in 1778 and these symphonies - whenever they were written and performed - were published in 1784. Like Mozart's Paris Symphonies, they are in the requisite three movements (what did the Parisians have against the minuet?) and attempt to solve the demand for novelty by having sinfonia concertante-like slow movements (this also failed since the Parisians were then able to say "they're not symphonies then!". Is is any wonder Vogel wrote no more symphonies? World premiere recordings. Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic; Reinhard Goebel.
