Description: Yedidia's chamber works with clarinet emphasize the composer's gift for melody, in his most tonal idiom, somewhat removed from the ferocious concentration and virtuosity of his (earlier) piano works. Elements of Eastern European, Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean idioms rub shoulders in works that add a world-music twist to neo-romanticism, and a popular approachability to sophisticated music of the concert hall. The in memoriam Farewell and an introspective 'slow movement' within the varied Concertino add genuine depth and pathos to these attractive examples of a versatile composer's lighter side.
